[This petition is badly damaged] Sarah Roche, widow of . . . Roche of Trovyan in Cornwall, states that in March . . . [her husband] was ill in bed and she was looking after him, Roland Roche, son of the said John, came, by the maintenance of John, and . . . her husband out of their house. And then one Michael Cohin, servant of the said Roland, came . . . broke the arms, legs, and robbed the said Rose, and left her for dead, so that since then she has not been able to . . . goods and chattels of the said John Roche and Sarah, and still hold them, wrongly. And Roland still holds the said Sarah, wrongly . . . to a total value of £20 annually. And the said Sarah is so greatly threatened with death by the said Roland that . . . her dower or the aforesaid goods and chattels without your gracious aid. May it please your most high royal lordship to order your . . . to for your aforesaid poor widow Sarah a due remedy for her aforesaid great grievance and damage, for God and as [a work of charity].
