Description

Name(s)
Dylyngton, Maud
Addressees
[King]
Nature of request
[This petition is badly damaged] Maud Dylyngton makes three requests:1) She states that Richard Dylyngton, her former husband, was seised of various [lands] in Somerset, in his demesnes as in fee, which he gave and granted to William Assheford, Robert . . . which they then gave and granted to Richard and Maud and Richard's heirs forever. Now the Abbot of Muchelney is harassing and molesting Maud, with the intention of occupying her lands, pursuing her through the courts, and physically threatening and assaulting her and her servants. She asks the king to consider the great oppressions inflicted upon her, and the destruction of her poor estate, and asks that the Abbot might be ordered to appear before the king in Chancery on a certain date, to explain his actions.2) She states that there is on her land an ash tree, one branch of which, worth 2d., recently fell off in a high wind: and because of this, the Abbot has sued a writ to take twenty cartloads of wood worth 100s from her.3) She states that the Abbot is harassing her by suing a writ of right of wardship, with regard to her lands and her son.4) [Very little remains of this petition] She states that the Abbot is amercing her and her tenants.5) [Very little remains of this petition] This petition concerns a John Teillour, her tenant, and a plea of trespass.
