[This petition is badly damaged] Nicholas de [Cheyney] makes four petitions:1) He states that he complained to the last parliament of the oppressions and hardships inflicted on him by the Prior of Wenlock and the bailiffs of the Channel Islands, and the king and council gave him a commission of oyer et terminer; but nothing was done, and his adversaries have [taken action against him] while he was at York, to his great harm. He asks that nothing done in his absence might damage him.2) The said Nicholas also complains against his adversaries that by their . . . attorney that he had appointed in England, before master Robert de Le . . . others can help him or answer for him on any thing that touched the . . . had ruined, although the Chancellor attested . . . that the said master Robert had received the said attorney . . . the said master Robert openly testified the said . . . they have seized the said Nicholas's lands into the hand . . .3) Furthermore the said adversaries have seized his lands and . . . day to day because of the harbouring of a Robert . . . by the war, and had the said Nicholas appealed . . . greater contempt, whereas the said Robert was never . . . but only by a simple presentment of a . . . of £1000 and more.4) Item the said adversaries have condemned Nicholas to £200 . . . a merchant of Brittany . . . inasmuch as the said Nicholas is . . .

CCW 1244-1326 p.116 is dated 14 October 1300, and would seem to be related. The related SC 8/346/E1363 refers to events in refers to events in 25 Edw. I (20 November 1296-19 November 1297). This may be the other petition mentioned in the endorsement.
