Henry de Percy, Warden of your Marches of England towards Scotland, that whereas . . . well and duly kept and held, both in those marches and in others, the which . . . the Scots have said plainly that if any castellan on your part by means of . . . or other right whatsoever takes possession or distraint within the castellanies or . . . realm of England as soon as they can do so, with no delay, and in such . . . or another, destroying, robbing and pillaging your country and that of your lieges, because they demand . . . as they claim and your high will is.
