[This petition is fragmentary] . . . his liege knights and esquires, and the poor commons of the county of Northumberland, may it please him of his gracious lordship to pardon the said petitioners . . . considering the great destructions both by war and by disease of livestock and great accumulations of people who have by various . . . live and by which the people of the said county are greatly impoverished, and a great number of them fully intend to leave the realm if they are . . . truly. A great part of the said knights and esquires have put their seals to these present letters.
