Description

Name(s)
de Emeldon, Richard
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Emeldon, to whom Edward II granted the manor of Silksworth so that neither he nor his heirs could be evicted before he was provided with land worth £30 yearly, requests remedy because Holland has put in question the manor by reason of a fined levied in the bishop's court in which Thomas, late earl of Lancaster acknowledges the manor to belong to Holland and Holland leased the manor to the earl for life.
Nature of endorsement
Because the petition testifies that Emeldon is seised of the manor of Edward II's gift, and by award of Parliament it is agreed that neither Emeldon nor anyone else seised of Holland's lands be troubled without answering at the common law, and then if Emeldon is empleaded of this, he can be assisted by the King's charter and the King will take advice so he will not lose.
