Grottom and Galloway and his fellow merchants of Ireland, who at Drogheda loaded a ship of Flanders called 'le Christofre' of Sluis with 34 horses for going to Brittany, request restitution of the same horses. On the way to the Bay of Brittany they were driven by storm to Dartmouth where Wise, claiming that the horses were bound for the King's enemies, took all 34 of them as forfeit, sending six to the King and keeping or selling the rest for his own profit.

The petition dates to about 1440 when the King granted that Wyse could keep the forfeited horses mentioned in this petition (sending the best six to the King), if Wyse's information proves to be correct (CPR 1436-41, p. 484).
