Nature of request
Abraham, parson of Harpley, requests remedy against his patron, Gourney, and that letters of privy seal be directed to Gourney and his father-in-law, Calthorpe, ordering them to appear before the council to be examined. After Gourney attempted to force Abraham to resign by committing various offences against him, the chancellor and bishop of Chichester ordered that neither he nor those procured by him should trouble Abraham. However, he has since caused Calthorpe, his father-in-law, to take a feigned action against Abraham, wrongly claiming that he hunted in Calthorpe's warren.
