Heron, to whom the King granted the offices of constable and keeper of Bamburgh castle with £40 yearly for life, requests remedy because so many assignments have been made from the farms and profits of the lordship of Bamburgh that few tenants and farmers can remain there, nor may he have his wages. He requests that his fees, wages and £40 be preferred above all other payments.

The petition dates to between 1452, when the petitioner was granted the office (CPR 1446-52, pp. 526-7), and 1459, when the office was granted to the petitioner and his son in survivorship (CPR 1452-61 p. 512). Since it was presented at Parliament, it probably dates to 1455.
