Nature of request
Le Sauvage, Maen and their companions of Sluis and Bonde, Wouttersson and their companions of Bruges request that Erpyngham be ordered to make restitution to them for two ships of Sluis, containing the petitioners' merchandises, captured by four English balingers, contrary to the truce between the King and the count of Flanders. The ships and merchandises were taken to Rye where the merchandises were shared among a number of men. They have had other writs sent to Erpyngham to have restitution and, when he was last in Paris, he promised them it would be done.
Nature of endorsement
On 19 June in the 9th year etc., with the archbishop of Canterbury, chancellor, the bishop of Bath, the treasurer and keeper of the privy seal present in council at Westminster, it was agreed that a writ under the great seal be directed to Erpyngham or his lieutenant to grant the petitioners restitution, on pain of £1000.
