Coldon requests remedy against, and suitable punishment for, Merkenfeld, John and Richard Pulane, Aldeburghwyke and other unknowns who came to Kirby Wiske, assaulted him and removed him from his house, taking him to Knaresborough forest until he swore to do their will.
Nature of endorsement
On 18 November in the 8th year etc., with the archbishop of Canterbury, the bishops of Winchester, Durham, chancellor, and London, the Lord of York, the treasurer and the keeper of the privy seal present in council at Westminster, it was agreed that writs be addressed to Merkenfeld and others named within to be before the council at Westminster on a certain day to be decided by the chancellor to answer concerning the matter contained in this petition, on pain of £100.
