Beaufort requests a grant, in lieu of a like grant to him by letters patent dated 4 June 1403, of the keeping of the castle and lordship of Wigmore with various franchises.
Nature of endorsement
On 28 September in the 7th year etc., at the house late of Henry, former earl of Northumberland in London, it was agreed by the King and his council (the archbishop of Canterbury, the bishops of Winchester, Durham, chancellor, and London, the keeper of the privy seal, the duke of York, Lord Grey, chamberlain, and Sir John Cheyne) that Beaufort, to whom the King granted the castle and lordship of Wigmore in the marches of Wales by his letters patent, should have the said letters patents and their enrolment cancelled in Chancery, and the chancellor should provide Beaufort with letters patent in accordance with his request.
