Description

Name(s)
Brentier, Bernard (Bernat)
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Bernard Brentier states that he has been falsely accused of treason before the king and council, and requests permission, by the king's letters patent, to enter safely into the prison in Bordeaux castle, and from there to make proclamation throughout Bordeaux, that if anyone wishes to accuse him of treason to the king or to the city of Bordeaux, he is to come forward, as Bernard offers on his body to prove that he is good and loyal; and if he does not, he is prepared to suffer the fate of a traitor. But if he does prove himself good and loyal, or if no-one can be found to maintain the false accusation, he asks that his good name and fame might be restored to him, and that his goods, which the king has given to the lord of Lesparre, might be restored to him.
