Nature of request
The king's former soldiers in Calais state that they have long sued to the king and council to have restitution of their wages, lands, rents, and other goods pertaining to them, within the town of Calais, and it has pleased the king to grant restitution of their lands, rents, and other goods; they trust that the king, on the advice of the council, will grant them their wages also. They request a warrant to the Mayor of Calais to deliver their lands, rents and goods to them.
Nature of endorsement
[On face] H. Cardinal [sign manual].[On dorse] It is agreed that, notwithstanding any arrest or impeachment made of the lands, rents or goods of those who were lately the king's soldiers in his town of Calais, the same soldiers may have free disposition of their said lands, rents and goods; not intending by this to give them licence to dwell within the said town.
