SC 8/295/14721
Date

Description
Petitioners
John de Norwitz (Norwich).
Name(s)
de Norwitz (Norwich), John
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
John de Norwitz states that Guy Ferre and Eleanor his wife held the manor of Benhall in Suffolk for themselves and the heirs of their bodies, with remainder to Guy's heirs, of the gift of John Bacoun and Adam Bacoun; and they held this manor of Walter de Norwitz, John's father, of his manor of Dallinghoo, which John has now inherited. Guy has now died without an heir, so that Benhall will fall to John, as lord of the fee, after the death of Eleanor. The king has now given and granted this manor to the Earl of Suffolk, to have and hold after Eleanor's death, to John's disinheritance, and contrary to his right. He asks the king and council to consider his right, which he is ready to aver in any way the king and council wish, and to repeal this grant.
Nature of endorsement
As the petition claims that the tenant for life is still living, before whose death no action is given to him, no remedy can be ordained for him in law while the said tenant lives. In the matter of repealing the gift made to the earl, he should sue to the king.
