Nature of request
The burgesses of Carmarthen state that the Porteref (Portreeve) of Carmarthen, who collects the king's money [and delivers it at] the Exchequer, and his heirs are charged with that sum, each for his own time, so that those who pay their farms and debts to him are not charged again in his default, while he is able to pay. They also state that the Porteref will be chosen in this way: the burgesses will choose four suitable burgesses and present them to the Constable of Carmarthen, who will choose one on behalf of the king.
Nature of endorsement
They are to have a writ to the king's Receiver of Carmarthen, who is now or who will be for the time being, that they are to have the king's farms and monies, levied by the provost of the same town, levied from the aforesaid provost and his heirs, provided that they are sufficient for this.
