[c. 1317]
Description
Petitioners
Henry de Beaumount (Beaumont).
Name(s)
de Beaumount (Beaumont), Henry
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Henry de Beaumount states that on the day that he died Robert de Wylughby held part of his lands from him in the county of Lincolnshire, but that the escheator has held unannounced inquisitions there with insufficient people, and has found that he held some of his lands in the aforesaid county of the king in chief: which he did not. He requests a writ to the Escheator and to some other good and loyal knight, so that a good inquisition might be held by knights and others who know the truth best, and that he, Henry, might be warned so that he can be present and show his evidence.
Nature of endorsement
Because it has been found by inquisitions returned in Chancery that Robert de Wylughby held of the king in chief in various places, the Treasurer and chamberlains are to be ordered to have a search made in the books and memoranda of the said Exchequer, and to inform the king if those places are held of the king as is contained in the aforesaid inquisitions.
Places mentioned

People mentioned

Note
The writs for CIPM, vol. VI no.60 are dated 1 April 10 Edward II (1317), and the inquisitions are held in April and May of that year. This petition must date from shortly afterwards.
