Description
Petitioners
William de Rodestone.
Name(s)
de Rodestone, William
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
William de Rodestone requests an allowance for £30 for the damage he has suffered through 'cokedons' (debased French coins): as he received each cokedon for a penny, and when he paid them to the king he could have an allowance of only half a penny for each one. An inquest held by Richard de Abyndone found that he had suffered damages of £60, and so the Treasurer and Barons of the Exchequer ordained that he should have an allowance for £30; but he has not yet been able to have an allowance for even a penny. He requests a remedy.
Nature of endorsement
The Treasurer and Barons are to be ordered to make more complete execution of the ordinance made by the Treasurer and Barons of the king, father of the present king, as is contained in the petition.
People mentioned
Richard de Abyndone (Abingdon).

A Latin summary of this petition appears on a roll of petitions from the parliament of January 1315 (Rot. Parl. vol. I p.320b (no.143)).
