Description
Petitioners
Thomas de Blaston.
Name(s)
de Blaston, Thomas
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Thomas de Blaston states that he recovered 80 marks against Hugh de Notingham and others by means of a writ of re-disseisin, and then had the record and process brought before the king, so that a writ was issued to seize Hugh and the others to make fine to the king and give satisfaction to the party; but Hugh failed to respond until he was outlawed. Now the king has granted Hugh his charter of pardon for the imprisonment, redemption, and all other things touching this business, contrary to the law and to the destruction of Thomas, who has no other recovery. He asks that this charter might be repealed, and that he might be allowed to sue against Hugh until he has satisfaction.
Nature of endorsement
The justices appointed to hold the king's pleas are to be ordered that, when they have examined the record and process mentioned in the petition, if they find that the said Hugh was convicted of the trespass and that damages were awarded to the said Thomas, and that the said Hugh is out of prison, by virtue of his charter, without having made satisfaction to the aforesaid Thomas for his damages, then he is to seize the body of the said Hugh again, and to keep him in prison until he has made satisfaction for the aforesaid damages, notwithstanding the aforesaid pardon.
People mentioned
Hugh de Notingham (Nottingham).
