Thomas le Convers, Thomas le Man, Robert atte Doune, William Coclyne, Richard atte Doune, chaplain, and John Austin state that they were appealed for the deaths of Ponsard de Mount Martyn and Eleanor his wife, by procurement of certain people, and that because of this they were imprisoned in Colchester castle for three years and more, and could not have their delivery because of Hugh le Despenser the son. They ask that John de Bousser, Benedict de Cokefeld and John Dyen, or two of them, might be appointed to make deliverance according to the law of the land both of them and of others imprisoned in the same gaol.

From the reference to Hugh le Despenser, this petition would seem to date from c. 1327, or perhaps 1328 or 1329, as CPR 1324-7 p.65 is dated 9 July 1324 and p.135 is dated 25 December 1324, and the petitioners have been imprisoned for three years. CPR 1327-30::p.117 is dated 29 May 1327.
