Nature of request
Robert Aunger of Reedness states that he and his ancestors, their feoffors and their ancestors, were sezied of sixty acres of moor and turbary with appurtenances in Reedness from the time of William the Conqueror until Henry de Lascy, formerly Earl of Lincoln, disseised him of them. They came into the hand of the king's father after the death of Joan, the earl's wife, who held them in dower, as Alice, the earl's daughter and heir released and quitclaimed them to him. Robert requests a remedy.

Certain people are to be appointed in Chancery to inquire, in the presence of the keeper of those lands the estate that the . . . mentioned here had in the moor and turbary mentioned here, and how and in what way the said moor and turbary came into the hands of Henry de Lascy, and likewise how the same moor and turbary came into the king's hands, and into other circumstances . . . and the inquisition is to be returned in Chancery and . . . the lord king.Enrolled.

Datable to c. 1327 by the reference to the death of Joan, Countess of Lincoln, in the time of the king's father. She appears to have died in 1322 (Complete Peerage).
