Nature of request
The merchant vintners of Gascony state that when they cannot sell their wines in England soon enough after they have unloaded them to pay the masters of the ships their freight within the term allotted, the Mayor and Sheriffs of London, at the complaint of the ships' masters, have the wines valued to pay the masters by taverners of London only, against their will and the tenor of their charter, which says that in each plea in which they implead or are impleaded, half the inquest is to be taken by merchants from the Duchy. They request a remedy.
Nature of endorsement
The Mayor and Sheriffs of London are to be ordered by writ of Chancery to do justice concerning the contents of the petition, according to the custom of the city; otherwise, they are to sue against them in the Exchequer.
