Nature of request
The Archdeacon of Dorset states that he and his predecessors have always had full jurisdiction in the parish church of Wimborne Minster, the Dean of Wimborne has brought a prohibition, in the form attached to this petition, prohibiting him from having any jurisdiction over the king's free chapel. As the king is bound to uphold the rights of Holy Church, and the Archdeacon does not wish to do anything contrary to this prohibition, even if it has been obtained inappropriately, he requests a remedy.

[On face] Coram rege.[On dorse] Coram rege.He is adjourned.He is adjourned to the morrow.He is adjourned to the Saturday following the Conversion of St Paul.The king will take counsel on this until the next parliament, and the Bishop of St David's, formerly the Archdeacon of Dorset, and the Bishop of Ely, formerly Dean of Wimborne, have been asked to inform the king about the status of the aforesaid deanery and its liberties.

PROME, roll 02, appendix, no. 91 dates the petition to the Hilary parliament of 1290. The related petition summarized in Rot. Parl. vol. I p.52a is datable to the Easter parliament in that year.
