[This petition is damaged and badly faded] Henry de Kendale, formerly keeper and receiver of certain victuals of the king's for his expedition overseas, states that he had a command from [the Bishop of Coventry and] Lichfield, then the Treasurer, to deliver part of these victuals, and the monies that were assigned . . . both for the expenses of the king's household and for wages and other expenses, as was ordained by the Treasurer . . . He requests a writ of Chancery to the Treasurer and Barons of the Exchequer to allow him in his account all manner of liveries and payments [made by command of] the said Treasurer, for which he has letters under his seal, notwithstanding that he has no other warrant, charging those to whom delivery of the victuals and monies was made and discharging . . .

Note
From the reference to the king's expedition overseas, the Treasurer referred to would seem to be Roger Northburgh, Bishop of Coventry and Lichfield between June and December 1340. Henry de Kendale, Keeper of the king's victuals at London and Sandwich, is mentioned in CCR 1339-41 p.499 (6 August 1340), p.504 (10 August 1340), and p.522 (25 August 1340).
