Nature of request
Henry de Leicestre states that Thomas, Earl of Lancaster, gave him the wardenship of the hospital of Castle Donington in Leicestershire for term of life, and that he was seized of this for seven years and more, until the Earl's death. After his death, John de Wodeford wrongly took this wardship by power and maintenance, because Henry had been in the Earl's service, and has held it for five years; and he is removing the goods of the hospital. Henry requests law and a remedy.
Nature of endorsement
The justices of the king's Bench are to be ordered that, when they have seen the collation made to the said Henry of the hospital, calling before them John de Wodeford and hearing the arguments of both parties, they are to do justice.

Datable to c. 1327 by the reference to five years having passed since the death of Thomas of Lancaster, and the grant of the hospital to John de Wodreford on 10 April 1322 (CPR 1321-4 p.95). CPR 1327-30 p.125 is dated 6 February 1327, and might represent either the outcome of the petition, or its catalyst. CPR 1321-4 p.84 is dated 24 March 1322.
