Nature of request
Raymond William de la Mote states that he has served the king and his father in the war in Gascony, and that in that service he has lost his inheritance, which the French have held for ten years and more; and he has also served the king in the last war in Scotland. In compensation for this, he requests the lands belonging to the king's rebel, Isarn de Valiens, and his wife, which are in Penne d'Agenais, to hold until he has recovered his inheritance.

Note
The petitioner and his brother are granted a sum from the rents of the Abbot of Saint-Sever in Mimisan on 24 April 12 Edward III (1338) (m.9 of C 61/50), and an annual rent from two houses in Bordeaux, to replace these rents, which have been granted to another on 21 Jun 14 Edward III (1340) (m.17 of C 61/52). The petition probably dates from shortly before this time.
