Nature of request
Peter de Cartier states that he has served the king in the war in Gascony, and still serves the king to the best of his ability in the guard of the castle of Morlanne, at his own expense, and that he has spent a great deal of money in fortifying the castle against the king's enemies, so that the king owes him a total of £300 sterling for his wages and for these expenses. He asks that as a reward for his service and an allowance for this debt, he might have the temporality of Saint-Sever, which belongs to the Abbot of Saint-Sever, the king's enemy and rebel, which is worth £30 annually. He also requests the issues of the bastide of Toulouzette and of Saint-Maurice, which are worth £10 sterling annually, until he has be paid what is owed to him.
