).
Name(s)
de Balhache (Ballade), Amaneu,
Addressees
King
Nature of request
Amaneu de Balhache states that he has lost rents in Bourg and Blaye belonging both to himself and to his wife, who has been imprisoned by the French since Bourg was taken, and that he is also owed money for his wages and those of his men. He asks the king to order the Seneschal of Gascony to give him an assignment from the goods of the king's rebels and enemies, or elsewhere where it pleases the king.
Nature of endorsement
Coram Rege. The Seneschal is to be ordered to inform himself concerning his losses and his service, and to aid him from the goods of enemies.
Note
The castellany of the castle of Bourg is granted to the petitioner on 6 June 16 Edward III (1342), after its recapture by the English (m.29 of C 61/54), and on the same day he is granted £20 sterling annually from rebel lands, in compensation for lands lost by him in Blaye. This petition would therefore seem to date from between the capture of Bourg by the French in 1339 and 1342.
