Description
Petitioners
Lord of Puyguilhem.
Name(s)
Lord of Puyguilhem
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
The Lord of Puyguilhem states that he has acted well and loyally towards the king, and that for his service the king gave him the lands of Born, Mimizan, and Labouheyre, for term of life. Arnold Durffort has purchased them, although they have not been delivered, but he [the petitioner] has promised them to the Vicomte de Fronsac. He asks the king that, in consideration of his service, he might give power to the lords who come to these parts to ordain in such a manner that they might keep him from harm, without prejudice to others, as he does not wish the king to lose such a man as the Vicomte de Fronsac, but rather thinks that some compensation should be made to him, if it please the king. He also asks the king to write to Arnold Durffort, asking him if he would confirm the act of the Vicomte.
Nature of endorsement
[On face] Coram rege.[On dorse] Arnold Durffort is to be written to in this manner.

Note

Its associated warrant, no.126365 in C 81/262, is dated 13 March 14 Edward III (1340). This petition would appear to date from around the same time.
