Description

Name(s)
de Luda, Isabella
Addressees
[King]
Nature of request
[This is clearly the second or later of a number of petitions, and was perhaps formerly attached to SC 8/292/14587] Isabella states that she established a chaplaincy with certain rents which she purchased from a niece of hers, Aynor, and from Seguin den Fa, her husband, which are in the parish of Berson in the Blayais. But the king's people constantly prevent her from receiving these rents, saying that they are of the king's fee by reason of the jurisdiction of Blaye, and should not be put into mortmain. She asks that the Seneschal and Constable might be ordered not to disturb Isabella or her chaplain in possession of these rents, as they were given for the love of God and for the souls of her husband and kin, and as they are not worth 100s. sterling.
Nature of endorsement
She is to have a writ of ad quod damnum, and after the return of the writ, the king will do what he reasonably can.
