Nature of request
Gilet de la Foreste, esquire of Berard de la Bryt, states that he has served the king in his expedition to France, without having payment or loan for his wages. He asks that they might be paid, in full or as much as pleases the king, so that he can release his horses, which are in pledge in Brabant, and serve the king in the coming season. Or, in payment and in recompense for his service, he requests the prevote of Saint-Macaire for term of life, and that the Seneschal might be ordered to put him or his proctor in possession.Peter de Royouns states that he has served the king in Scotland and Gascony with three men at arms, in the company of Berard de la Bryt, and has lost some of his goods because of the war. He requests the prevote of Barsac, currently in the hands of the French, for term of life, and that the Seneschal might be ordered to put him in possession, as soon as it comes into the king's hand.These petitions are preceded by a short petition from the wife of Berard de la Bryt, asking the king to grant them.
Nature of endorsement
[On face, to first] The king will inform himself concerning what is due to him in the wardrobe. With regard to the prevote, the Seneschal is to be ordered to inform himself of the value of that prevote and to inform the king.[To second] The Seneschal is to be ordered to inform himself as before.[None on dorse]
