Peter de Poyane, citizen of Bayonne, formerly admiral of the king's fleet from Bayonne, states that, for the good service that he had done him, the king granted him £50 sterling for term of life from the Constable of Bordeaux, until he had been provided with land to the same value; and that he had later sent letters to the Seneschal and Constable to assign these £50 to Peter from the issues of Gosse and Seignanx. No execution has been made of this later order, and Peter asks that the Seneschal and Constable might be ordered to hand them over to him in due form, to hold for term of life, receiving the sum of £50 annually and paying the remainder to the Constable of Bordeaux.

Carte, vol. I p.90 is dated 20 May 1338, and m.26 of C 61/54, which calls the petitioner the Mayor of Bayonne, is dated 1 June 16 Edward III (1342). This petition probably dates from shortly after 1342.
