Description

Nature of request
Edmund, Earl of Kent, states that the king gave him by his charter all the lands in Leicestershire formerly belonging to Hugh le Despenser the father, except for the manor of Loughborough with its appurtenances, which he had already given to Henry de Beaumond. Now Henry has accroached to himself the manors of Beaumanor, Arnesby, Hugglescote, Castle Donington, Barrow upon Soar, Burton on the Wolds, Prestwold, Cotes, and Freeby, claiming that these are appurtenances of Loughborough, when in fact they are not. He requests a remedy, so that the gift given to him might take effect.
Nature of endorsement
A writ is to be sent to Henry de Beaumond to be in Chancery on a certain day, with his charter for Loughborough, to show it there and to answer to the king as to why he has entered the manors which do not pertain to Loughborough, and to do and receive there what the court adjudges.Enrolled.
