[1327-? c. 1337]
Description
Petitioners
Ramfre de Monpesat (Montpezat).
Name(s)
de Monpesat (Montpezat), Ramfre
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
[This petition is worn and hard to read] Ramfre de Monpesat states that the French have destroyed his houses in Montpezat, because of his service to the king and his father, and have occupied his lands and rents. He requests an annual assignment on the toll (peage) of Saint-Macaire, or whatever else might seem best to the king, until he has recovered his possessions.
Nature of endorsement
The Constable of Bordeaux is to be ordered to examine his letters and that he is to account; and he is to pay him what is in arrears etc. and henceforth.
Places mentioned
Montpezat, [Guyenne, France]
Saint-Macaire, [Guyenne, France].
People mentioned
[Edward II], King of England.
Note
From the hand, language and content, the mention of the king's father and the similarity to other petitions from the same petitioner, this petition would seem likely to date from the early years of the reign of Edward III.
