Nature of request
[This petition is worn and hard to read] Peter Arnold, Lord of Sault-d'Hasparren and Saint-Pee-sur-Nivelle in Labourd, states that on the Friday after the feast of St Bartholomew 1304, William de Saut, his eldest son, claimed half the lordships of Sault-d'Hasparren and Saint-Pee-sur-Nivelle against him in the court of Ustaritz, before Noth de la Dos, then bailli of Labourd, claiming that he was withholding it from him by force. After a long and violent suit, which he details, Rostanh de Roker, bailli of Labourd, was ordered to deliver half of these lands to William. Peter Arnold puts himself on the judgment of the king and council, and asks that his lands might be returned to him, and such baillis appointed in Labourd as might uphold the king's honour and justice.
