SC 8/292/14572
Date
[1305]
Description
Petitioners
William (Guilhem) de Pierre (Pierres), burgess of Blaye.
Name(s)
de Pierre (Pierres), William (Guilhem)
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
William de Pierre, burgess of Blaye, petitioning on behalf of the good people of Blaye, states that they have served the king well and loyally during the war, and have lost houses and inheritances, without wages, gifts or promises, and are greatly impoverished. They have received a loan from the corn that the king had in Blaye, in the keeping of William Amaneu, and ask that the king and council might allow this against the debts that the king owes them, as they are otherwise too poor to pay.
Nature of endorsement
The Constable of Bordeaux is to be ordered that, when he accounts with those who had the corn in their keeping, he is to allow them what those of Blaye have had borrowed of the said corn, and to charge them in payment of the debt that the king owes them from the war in Gascony.
Places mentioned
Blaye, [Guyenne, France]
Gascony, [France].
People mentioned
William (Guilhem) Amaneu.
Note
Datable with reference to Roles Gascons vol. III no.4780, which is dated 3 April 1305; this would seem to be in response to SC 8/292/14564, rather than to this petition, but the two are clearly linked.
