King and council.
Nature of request
Bidau Brane states that there is war between the gentlemen of Brassenx, and he is lord of La Mote de Villenave through his wife, with appurtenances, such as men and mills, in that country. He requests protection, and that his body and goods might be taken into the king's safekeeping, so that no harm comes to him through this war.

People mentioned
[Douce de Montaulieu], Lady of Villenave, wife of Bidau Brane.
Note
Datable to 1305 with reference to Roles Gascons, vol. III no.4917, which is dated 6 April 1305, and which would seem to be in response to this petition. Malcolm Vale discusses this petition on p.104 of The Angevin Legacy and the Hundred Years War, 1250-1340 (Oxford 1990).
