Description
Petitioners
Boydin, Lord of Auros.
Name(s)
Lord of Auros, Boydin
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Boydin, Lord of Auros, states that John Lemosin, his proctor, presented a petition before he came out of Gascony, in which he omitted most of what Boydin wished to request.1) He states that his castle was burnt down and destroyed, and that the king owes him money for wages and provisions, for himself and his companions. He requests payment and compensation, so that he can rebuild his castle and support himself.2) He states that he has taken the castellany of Saint-Macaire at farm, but has only been able to raise part of this farm. He asks that he might have an allowance for the remainder in the wages due to him, as otherwise he will not be able to pay.3) He states that he has nowhere to live, and asks that the castellany of Saint-Macaire or the prevote of the Bazadais might be leased to him according to their past value, at farm or otherwise.4) He states that the prevot of Bazadais and the prevot of La Reole have taken from him, wrongly and without reason, lands, inheritances and men belonging to his castle and lordship. He requests a letter to the Seneschal of Gascony, that everything that he can prove to be his, through good charters, good letters, or the testimony of good people of the country, might be delivered to him.5) He asks that the king's oats, which he took at Bourg, might be allowed to him in his wages.
Nature of endorsement
With regard to his castle, he is answered by another petition that his proctor will present to the council during this parliament. With regard to the debt, he is to take his letters to John de Sandale and Thomas de Cantebrigge, and when they have examined them, they will receive the letters and deliver them to the Treasury, and will let him have a letter under the king's great seal to be paid from the issues of Gascony. And the Seneschal and Constable are to be ordered to expedite his pay, at the Prince's prayer. With regard to what he owes for his bailiwick of the castellany of Saint-Macaire and for the oats, the Constable of Bordeaux is to be ordered to allow him that debt against what the king owes him for his wages and for his purveyance. With regard to his complaints against the prevots of the Bazadais and of La Reole, the Seneschal is to be ordered that, when he has called the parties and the king's defenders, he is to do justice.
