Description
Petitioners
Raymond Arnold (Ramon Arnaut) de Mount Tauser (Montauser).
Name(s)
de Mount Tauser (Montauser), Raymond Arnold (Ramon Arnaut)
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Raymond Arnold de Mount Tauser, states that he gave into the keeping of Peter Douras, merchant of Sauveterre, in London, letters patent sealed with the seal of the Earl of Lincoln, concerning a debt. He was then sent to York to conduct some business concerning John de Sandale and the proctors of the towns of Gascony, and, when he returned, he found that Peter had been killed, and that Peter de Cabbanes and others who lived in the same lodging had taken the letter, among other things: and he has never been able to recover it. He asks that he and Peter might come before the council, or before specific people, before whom Peter might explain why he has the letter and has not returned it, or give his reasons for why the letter was taken out of Peter Douras's chest, and why he holds it.
Nature of endorsement
Because the parties live in the town of London, the Sheriff of London is to be ordered to do justice to them.
