Description
Petitioners
Thomas Wodeby, merchant of Abingdon.
Name(s)
Wodeby, Thomas
Addressees
Council.
Occupation
merchant of Abingdon
Nature of request
Thomas Wodeby states that a ship containing merchandise bought for him in Rouen during time of truce by William Eustas was robbed off Harfleur. He sued to have his goods back, but, because of the shortness of the truce and because of an arrest that had been granted against the goods of the English and Flemings, he could do nothing, and had to return to England and request restitution from the council. He was granted an arrest, together with Bartholomew Deuxmarcz and John Braghyng, but because he fell ill, he could not pursue this, and Bartholomew and John had execution of the whole. He requests his share, or that a new arrest might be granted to him.
Nature of endorsement
He is to sue in Chancery by the due and accustomed process in such a case, and according to what is found by the said process, justice it to be done as has been done hitherto in similar cases. With regard to having an arrest: if it is to be granted by the process, it is to be done.
