Nature of request
[This petition is badly damaged] Galhard de Saint-Symphorien, Lord of Landiras, Marshal of the King's host in Gascony makes three requests:1) He states that because of his service and that of his father, the king's father gave him high and low jurisdiction in the parishes of [Illats, Louchats, Guillos], Hostens, La Brede and Saint-Michel de Rieufret, in compensation for rents lost in Savoy and Gascony. He requests confirmation of this gift.2) [Largely illegible] This request appears to concern lands given to him by the Seneschal, to hold until he has been paid a certain sum.3) He requests payment of [his wages and those of] his companions.4) Elias de Saint-Symphorien requests confirmation of a sum granted to him in compensation for his losses, and payment of this sum.5) John Toscanan requests payment of money owed to him for his wages and for compensation for lost horses.
Nature of endorsement
[On face, to first] Coram rege. . . . done at the command of the Seneschal. He is to show his letters. After seeing the letters with the information, it seems to the council that the king can properly confirm his father's act, with the exception of the parish of Hostens, according to the purport of this bill.[To second] [Illegible][To third] The Constable is to be written to to give him payment from the issues of the Duchy [or with the money] that will come to him.[To fourth] He is to show the letters that he has from . . . the king ought to confirm [will confirm them?].[To fifth] [The Constable is to pay him from] the issues of his bailiwick or the money that will come to him.[On dorse] The Lord of Landiras, his brother and John Toscanan.
