[This petition is badly damaged and largely illegible] To our lord the [king] . . . people of Gascony that whereas he has in various . . . an assignment of £666 sterling from the issues of the Duchy and Hugh Hugolin . . . is assigned to him from the salt-pans of Agen and . . . John de Bretagne and William Inge and Guy [Ferre] . . . in the hand of the pope and the said Peter returned to England . . . that he might be paid £666 sterling when the land . . . that he might have a letter to be paid by the Constable of Bordeaux.

The present Seneschal of Gascony and Constable of Bordeaux etc. or their [lieutenants] are to be ordered to inform [themselves] . . . assignment . . . deliver . . . further do . . . according to the [laws] . . . aforesaid assignment.

Tentatively dated to c. 1311 with reference to John de Bretagne, William Inge (Justice of Common Pleas January 1313, Chief Justice of King's Bench by April 1316, dead by 10 May 1322) and Guy Ferre (Seneschal of Gascony October 1300-February 1301 and August 1308-September 1309), who are all mentioned, together with the Bishop of Norwich, as the recipients of a letter concerning the king's response to articles alleged against him by the King of France concerning Aquitaine, dated 7 May 1311 (Carte, vol. I p.39).
