[This petition is damaged, and the sense is hard to make out] The Duke of Brittany cautions against [merchant] ships sailing without providing themselves with writs from Bordeaux, La Rochelle, or Saint-Mathieu, and quotes a document warning that he will seize any such ships. He specifically mentions the case of a ship found in default and seized by his officers, because it had crossed the boundaries without making . . . by a false suggestion arrested at Southampton as the goods of the French seized contrary to the truce, to the Duke's great prejudice. He asks that the vessel might be delivered as his own chattel rightfully acquired.
