Nature of request
Amaneu de Tonton, knight, John de Sescas, Bertran de la Dos, Galhard Dussos, Bernard de Trois Eawes and Bertran de la Dos, son of Amaneu de Forges make two petitions:1) They state that when William Arnold de Sescas, called Deunat, a servant (valet) of the King of England, was under his protection, he was arrested at Bazas by Raymond Arnold de la Rame, Archdeacon of Bazas, at the command of the Seneschal or his lieutenant, and while he was thus under arrest and very ill, he and others were killed by Rostainh de la Rame, the Archdeacon's nephew, William de Marterus, Bernard de Marterus and others, at the procurement of the Archdeacon. They ask that the Seneschal might be ordered to arrest the bodies and goods of Rostainh, William, Bernard, the Archdeacon and their accomplices, to inquire into the matter, and to punish the malefactors.2) They request letters to the Seneschal to punish these malefactors without delay. And if he finds that the Archdeacon received the malefactors after their crime, and that the Archdeacon or his nephews are in the protection of the King of France, that he might then remove the Archdeacon from the king's council, as his being in the protection of the king of France is the cause of all the trouble.
Nature of endorsement
The Seneschal is to be ordered to do justice concerning the contents of the petition, as should be done according to the laws and customs of those parts.

Note
The petition is dated to? c. 1320 on the basis of a reference to the petitioner in the Gascon rolls and noted in the guard notes (C 61/33, m.7d, dated 7 August 1320). However, this reference has no relevance to this petition, so its use for dating this petitioner is very suspect, and the hand might suggest a later date.
