Nature of request
Arnold Garssie del Fosse, Lord of Aiguillon states that the king granted him and his confederates his pardon for various homicides, robberies, arsons and other trespasses committed at Aiguillon and Lacepede, and granted them his peace, on condition that they would answer in court on these charges against any accuser, and had ordered his Seneschal not to harass them on this account, but that the Seneschal summoned Arnold before him and forced him to submit to his will on these matters, and to pay large sums of money to the king and to the party, without listening to his arguments. He asks that the Seneschal might be ordered to uphold the grant of the king's peace, to restore him to his previous condition and to put right any harm done to him by his enemies contrary to this grant of peace.
