Nature of request
[This petition is damaged] Bernard de Segur of Gascony states that [because he would not do homage to him], the Vicomte [of Benauges] seized his goods and possessions, and still holds them, despite being ordered by Fulk Lestrange, then Seneschal of Gascony, to return them, and he has received the fruits from them for nine years, in great prejudice to the king's lordship, and to the harm of Bernard and his brothers. He asks that the king might warrant to Bernard and his brothers the things that they hold of him, and that the Seneschal might be ordered to maintain and uphold them in their possessions, that the Vicomte might be forced to return the fruits, and that the embargo he had put over these goods might be removed. He also asks the king to confirm the letters issued by his father, and to order the execution of the process made before Fulk Lestrange, so that the king's homage might be safeguarded and his men preserved in the possession of their goods. He also states that he is ready to inform the king of his neighbours who should have done homage to him but have not.
Nature of endorsement
They are to show in Chancery the letters mentioned here, and they are to be renewed to maintain the king's estate. Concerning the other injuries inflicted, the present Seneschal etc. is to be ordered to do full justice to them and to maintain them etc.
