Nature of request
Raulyn le Pegnie and his companions, inhabitants of Dieppe, state that the king has granted the burgesses and inhabitants of their town, among other franchises and liberties, that they should be quit of all customs and subsidies throughout his domain, as is contained in a schedule under the seal of the town. But the customs officers of London and Faversham are preventing a ship that they have loaded with merchandise at Faversham from leaving without paying customs. They ask the council to ordain that they might be discharged of this custom.
Nature of endorsement
On 14 March in the seventh year etc. it was agreed by the council that a writ should be issued concerning the matter of this petition according to the form of the copy sewn to the present document.
