Nature of request
John Michell states that he loaded a ship of Calais, whose master was John Plays, in London with wine and wheat, paying the custom on this before departure, but because the ship arrived at Calais some days before the cocket, the searchers (Customs officers) at Calais seized the aforesaid goods, and refuse to release them without a sufficient warrant. He requests a writ to the searchers to deliver these goods to the petitioner or his servants.
Nature of endorsement
On 10 October in the fifth year of King Henry V, present in the council at Westminster the Duke of Bedford, Guardian of England, T, Duke of Exeter, T, Bishop of Durham, Chancellor of England, T. Erpyngham, S Felbrigg, R. de Euere and R. Redemane, knights, it was agreed that a writ should be issued under the great seal according to the effect of this petition.
