King.
Nature of request
Gailhard Assailhy makes two requests:1) He states that he has long served the king's father, and had the keeping of the castle of Blaye, from which he has been expelled. Because of his keeping of this castle, he is owed a certain sum of money from the time when Adam de Lymbergh was Constable of Bordeaux, as can be seen from the king's letters patent ordering Adam to pay, which he quotes. He is also owed money from when John Travers was Constable of Bordeaux, for which he also has letters patent in a similar form. He has received nothing of these sums, and asks that he might have payment or an assignment where it pleases the king.2) He states that the late king gave him Bassetlaw hundred in Nottinghamshire, from which he was expelled after the coronation of the present king. He asks that he might have some grace so that he can support himself and continue to serve the king.
