Description
Petitioners
Bernard (Bernat) Boer, burgess of Puymirol.
Name(s)
Boer, Bernard (Bernat)
Addressees
King and council.
Nature of request
Bernard Boer, burgess of Puymirol, states that he and his companions owed £300 tournois to Fortz de Jeotanes, enemy of the king, and that when the goods of enemies were inquired into during the recent war, this debt was discovered, and he was seized and his goods sold until he had paid the king this sum. He quotes a letter of John de Haustede, Seneschal of Gascony, dated 27 February 1327 [1328], attesting that this sum has been paid, and forbidding anyone to demand it again, for Fortz de Jeotanes or anyone else, and asks the king to give him letters of acquittance and of confirmation of this letter, so that he will not be troubled again for this sum.
Nature of endorsement
The king is not accustomed to give acquittance under his seal of England in such a case, and it seems to him and his council that the acquittance that he has from the Seneschal should be sufficient for him.[Repeated with minor differences] The king is not accustomed to give acquittance under his great seal of England in such a case, and it seems to him and his council that the acquittance that he has under the seal of Gascony should be sufficient for him.
